For years, the Gewandhaus Quartet has campaigned for charitable purposes. In addition to appearances for the Lions Club International, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the four musicians also played a key role in the restoration of the Leipzig Thomaskirche, where Johann Sebastian Bach once worked. A “Stifterbank” today bears the name of the ensemble. The Gewandhaus Quartet also devotes special attention to young musical talent. Masterclasses in Europe, America and Asia testify to this commitment.
