Valentino Worlitzsch - Violoncello

Jürnjakob Timm, longtime 1st solo cellist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra and member of the Gewandhaus Quartet, studied in Leipzig. During his studies and artistic aspirant he became a laureate of several international competitions.
Timm played in addition to his commitments in the Gewandhaus Orchestra and Gewandhaus Quartet as a soloist with many orchestras in Germany, Europe, Japan, South America and the United States. On many travels of the Gewandhaus Orchestra he played as a solo cellist and as a soloist under Kurt Masur. Renowned music festivals such as “Prague Spring”, “Brahms Festival Granada”, “Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival”, “Ann Arbor Music Weeks” engaged him. In 1988 Jürnjakob Timm was appointed Honorary Professor at the Leipzig Conservatory. Since 1986 he teaches as a guest lecturer in Japan in addition to his regular concert activities. In 1993 he was appointed solo cellist in the orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival.


The Gewandhaus Quartet is a string quartet ensemble founded in 1808.
It was one of the first professional quartets in the world. In his over 200-year history, he was responsible for the honor of many world premieres.
